Google Finally Updates FeedBurner

Posted by admin in Blogging, Blogging N... | 10.26.2010 - 9:00 pm

After over three years since its acquisition, Google has finally launched a major upgrade to FeedBurner with an emphasis on real-time stats.
The new interface provides real time stats for clicks, views, and podcast downloads, which means you can start seeing what content is drawing traffic from feed readers, Twitter, and other syndicated sources as it happens.

The interface can be accessed by clicking the “Try out the NEW (beta) version!” link at the top of your FeedBurner account page.  According to the launch article, “The best way to see these real time features is to publish a new post and then switch to the ‘Last two hours’ view to begin seeing updates.”
At this time, the new interface is primarily for the showcasing the new real-time stats.  All other account actions will still need to be done from the old interface.
What’s your take on the new FeedBurner upgrade? Is this just what […]

    Notify Unconfirmed Subscribers Updated

    Posted by admin in Blogging, Blogging N... | 03.07.2010 - 2:08 am

For the past 8 months I have been receiving requests to update the Notify Unconfirmed Subscribers plugin, since it stopped working for users. Frankly, I never really found the time to do it, but as the requests piled up, I decided to set some time aside and update the plugin.
So if you have been having problems with NUS, update to the latest version (1.3.0) and the issues should be solved. Do let me know if you have any problems with the latest update.
    A few notes:

Support for Old FeedBurner accounts has been dropped in v1.3.0, please upgrade your account to a Google account before using NUS.
NUS will only work on sites with cUrl support.
Support for additional languages coming in future versions.

Note: I have not used WP_Http as there are problems with fsock and other http methods, it only works for cUrl right now. However, the plugin does […]

      Feedburner Feed Replacement Plugin Broken!

      Posted by admin in Blogging, Blogging N... | 08.11.2009 - 9:03 pm

If you have been using the Feedburner Feed Replacement Plugin originally from Steve Smith, and have not checked your feeds lately, it might be worth a few minutes of your time to do so. Just browse to your blog’s feed address  (http://yourblog.com/feed/) and if you are redirected to your Feedburner feed, you are fine. Otherwise you need to uninstall the Feedburner plugin and get something else.
About a month ago, this blog’s feed count lost about 5000 readers in one feel swoop which is a huge number and a rude wake up call for us. This has happened before with Feedburner and I thought the count would go back up once Feedburner straightened out their data. But alas, that was not to be. I was relegated to thinking that either our posts have reduced so much in quality that people are unsubscribing in droves or there is some errant code on […]

        Notifying Unconfirmed Feedburner Email Subscribers

        Posted by admin in Blogging, Blogging N... | 08.08.2009 - 3:46 am

Feedburner provides users with a easy way to burn RSS feeds and allow users to subscribe to them using either a RSS feed reader or through email, however when a user chooses to subscribe through email, they have to confirm their subscription through a link they will receive in the confirmation email.
However the problem arises that many users do not confirm their subscriptions and it could involve many reasons, like the confirmation email landing up in the spam folder among other things.
Feedburner does provide users with an option to view the subscribers that are unconfirmed however dealing with each and every unconfirmed subscriber can be a pain.
If you are Firefox user there is a Greasemonkey script (via Instant Fundas) that will copy all the unconfirmed subscribers email address to the clipboard whenever you visit the email subscribers page, you can then use that information to send out emails to the […]

FeedBurner is Dead, Long Live Feedburner

          Posted by admin in Blogging, Blogging N... | 02.13.2009 - 9:12 am

So for some reason that I can no longer remember, I had to log into FeedBurner to do something. I was greeted with an odd message that appeared to say that FeedBurner would cease to exist and I would have to migrate my account to Google. I have become wary of attaching my Google account to my other important services after their recent gaffe and was about to click “No Thanks” when I realized that the page was telling me that if I did not do it manually, they would be moved for me anyways. Since I had no choice, I went through the paces to move my FeedBurner services to Google.
The move was mostly uneventful and I was told that while my feeds were being transferred, I could close the browser window and know that they would be safely transferred. There are some reported incidents of missing feeds and […]
