New WordPress Default Theme Unveiled

Posted by admin in WordPress Templates ... | 06.07.2011 - 9:00 pm

Twenty Eleven, the new WordPress default theme, has been officially unveiled. If you notice the similarities between Twenty Eleven and Duster, that’s because Duster was more or less the beta release of Twenty Eleven, but don’t be fooled by the similar looks. Twenty Eleven contains several under-the-hood enhancements and additional features, and it will be included by default with all WordPress downloads as soon as WordPress 3.2 is released!
WordPress.com users are welcome to try Twenty Eleven on their blogs now, and self-hosted WordPress users eager to try Twenty Eleven are more than welcome to get involved in WordPress 3.2 beta testing. Of course, if beta testing isn’t your thing, you can always try out the theme’s demo.
What do you think of the new default WordPress theme?

WordPress 3.0 Twenty Ten Theme Updated

    Posted by admin in WordPress Templates ... | 07.24.2010 - 11:00 pm

Just in case you missed it the default theme in WordPress 3.0 has been updated to version 1.1.  If your running WordPress 3.0 you should find an update indicator in your admin panel under Dashboard > Updates.

However, today when I made that same search I finally got some results and although it is not a changelog with a detailed listing of what has been updated it is from one of the WordPress Devs, Andrew Nacin and appears in the WordPress Support Themes and Templates forum:
    Hey all –
The only real change is that I removed the half-baked code using the wp_title hook in order to customize the page title, […]

      A Unique Monotone

While Matt Mullenweg attended the Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco just a few weeks ago, he previewed a new theme which looks like might be the perfect WordPress theme for photographers called Monotone. Monotone was developed by Noel Jackson and is a very unique theme in that, the color scheme changes based on the photograph being displayed. Here are two screenshots showcasing the theme in action with two different photographs.

Monotone takes the first image attached to a post and samples colors from it for use in the surrounding layout. Each post needs to contain one image, and optionally, any text you want. The theme does the rest, pulling colors out of and resizing the images for use in the design. You can use the visual or the HTML editor in wordpress to input your image and supporting text.

One of the only problems I’ve seen with the Monotone theme is […]
